ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS SCREENING

This type of
screening is typically performed to ensure product
compliance with "Total Quality" dictates and to fulfil two
major requirements:

ESS
consists in the application of such stimuli as supply and
thermal cycles alternated or combined with vibration tests
aimed at highlighting those defects that cannot normally be
detected by standard inspection or functional tests:
contamination, cold or dry soldering, intermittent contacts,
bad diffusion, weak connections, insufficient insulation.
The application of ESS
techniques is mainly aimed at the ëprecipitationí of latent
manufacturing defects and "infantile mortality" through fast
thermal cycles (up to 30° C/min. in our
ESS chambers with
mechanical thermoregulation system, and up to 60° C/min.
when using LN2).
